WHEATON, Md. – The St. Lawrence and St. Catherine Societies held the 2012 Epiphany Party for single Catholic young adults on January 7, 2012 at the St. Catherine Laboure parish. Over 160 young adults came to support the event. The annual event featured activities for all of the young adults to participate in.
“That was the best showing we ever had,” said Daniel Smyth, current interim president of the St. Lawrence Society. “We’ve done it probably about 10 times.”
The evening started with food and a raffle ticket giveaway, then led into the speed dating sessions. During speed dating, singles mingled and met news Catholic young adults at each different table.
The salsa dancing teacher drew all of the attendees in for lessons, teaching the moves from the main dance floor and also on the stage. Attendees mimicked the dance moves and danced with partners to try out their technique.
After trying out the moves, the Catholic young adults took to live dancing and mingling while the DJ played fast and slow music. “It was a great way to meet other Catholic young adults in the area,” said Smyth.
