July 15, 2012 Mass reading number 2, from Ephesians 1:3-6

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him.  In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved.”

There are times during the day when you don’t want to get up.  You hear the alarm clock but you just don’t have the strength.  Your eyes are still drowsy and you haven’t had coffee yet.  Maybe you worked to hard the day before and you didn’t get enough sleep.  Maybe you are thinking about all the hardships you have been through and all the challenges of getting up and facing the grind of work.  You think to yourself, am I going to do this for the rest of my life?  How are you to motivate yourself to get through this?

A passage in Ephesians says,
“Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens”.

Remember that every day is a blessing.  Just to be able to be alive is a gift.  Remember there are many unborn children that are murdered through abortion.  They never had a chance to live their lives.  Remember that we are given that opportunity.

…so make the most of it.  Stop feeling sorry for yourself.  Remember, there are many people, even in this country, that don’t have enough food to eat.  Be thankful you can fill yourself up with food, and will have enough strength to tackle the day.

Count your blessings one by one.  Remember that whatever goes on in your life is God’s will.  We have a choice, as do others.  Will we do good things or do bad things?  Will you make a sacrifice for Christ?  Remember, he died on the cross for us.  How far will we go for him?

Do things with spirit.  Don’t just do things to get by, do things with an invigorated energy. If you are happy to be alive, then praise God’s name.  Feels his love and show love and respect for others.  The more you love others, the more you will love yourself.

And finally, remember to pray.  In your time of despair, in your time of triumph, remember to pray and ask for God’s help.  Thank God for the endless blessings he has given us.  Remember to take the time to pray in your day.
